Glenfiddich 12 Whiskey History

In the summer of 1886, with his seven sons and two daughters by his side, William Grant set out to fulfil a lifelong ambition. Together they began building his Distillery by hand, stone by stone. After a single year of work it was ready and William named it Glenfiddich, Gaelic for Valley of the Deer. In 1923 Prohibition is in full swing. William’s grandson Grant Gordon joins the family firm, surprises the industry and increases whisky production. As the decade and the law turns, Glenfiddich are one of only six distilleries still operating in Scotland. Ready to meet a new surge in demand for fine, aged whiskies. In 2011 the most expensive single malt sells at auction. In honor Scotland’s oldest woman, admired and respected for her achievements in education. Janet Sheed Roberts is the last grandchild of the founder. Only 11 bottles of Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve are released worldwide. Each are auctioned for charity, setting world records. Today Glenfiddich is one of the worlds most recognized whiskey brands with the production volumes that match the demand for this classic spirit.

How does Glenfiddich 12 taste?

Glenfiddich is the first single malt I ever tasted and immediately after purchased. I tried Glenfiddich at a bar in NYC and I immediately noticed the difference in comparison to whiskeys I had before. It was more complex, tasted better and left a longer after taste. I immediately bought my first bottle the day after and my whiskey collection started. On the nose you notice apples. Palate gives you apples, pear and vanilla. Finish gives you a long oak finish. Glenfiddich is a whiskey that everyone should have in their collection, a classic with unique taste.
